Frequency switch for XPR6550
Anyone know what the part number is for the Frequency switch on an XPR6350/6550 portable?

4015203H06 is the current flavor of choice.

Good luck changing it. I don't know of anyone that has had good results. If you do manage, without picking up one of those tiny trace pads on the board, let me know, will you? My success rate is about 70%, and I think the rest have already failed because the switch itself has pulled the pad off the circuit board.

I find the best units to practice on are those still under warranty and with gremlins inside necessitating board swaps at Mexirola xD

That's what I've been doing. I'm making notes as I go, hopefully to resolve a good technique so when I drop one of my out of warranty XPRs I can fix it. Volume controls and antenna connectors, no problem, its those silly invisible contacts UNDER the channel switch that are a pain.
So far the best results seem to come from dissecting the switch and THEN removing the contacts from the board with hot air.

Yup, that's what we do as well, when we want to bother. If it's under warranty, we just send them to the depot...sad when replacing a simple switch is too much hassle.com501 wrote: So far the best results seem to come from dissecting the switch and THEN removing the contacts from the board with hot air.
No trees were harmed in the posting of this message...however an extraordinarily large number of electrons were horribly inconvenienced.

That thought had crossed my mind. Times have changed since my early days of changing frequency switches on HT90's.wavetar wrote:....sad when replacing a simple switch is too much hassle.

Sadly, even with state of the art equipment, the chances of damaging the board (or it already being damaged) are already so high, it pays to simply bite the bullet and let M replace the board.
Re: Frequency switch for XPR6550
I have had to use a board pre-heater prior to desoldering the frequency switch. By doing this you won't damage your circuit board, and it will make switch removal much easier.
