XPR4550 starts reading then Errors at end #1060

Post by wazzzzzzzzup »

i picked up a VHF XPR4550 recently, and sent it to the shop for programming. they advised its not reading correctly. it will read and progress indicator will finish, then it will error 1060.
the shop is using TRBO SW 10.7

model AAM27JQH9LA1AN ver D01.20.16 (or .18 hard to read)
they have tried multiple reads with same results.

i have searched around but not finding anything specific to this.

any ideas?

Yep... it's a dev radio. Your only hope may be to flash it up to current... which could work, could give you an error, or could turn the radio into a complete brick. In almost every case, if the firmware starts with D (or really anything except R), you don't want that radio. There are exceptions, of course, but this is a good general rule.

what would be the History on a radio like this? was it not Ment to be released or was it released for a special function?

i did a batboard search for development firmware and only came up with another thread about an xts2500 with it but didnt really answer my question.

Developmental radios may have almost any kind of CPU / hardware combination on board. That is what they are for, is to test various packages together to see what works under factory conditions. They are supposed to be destroyed, but sometimes make it out in the trash. More than likely, whatever you end up with will NOT conform to anything you can load a standard flash into, as the chipset the standard flash is expecting won't be there. Disaster will result.
