Problem with XPR4580 control station with tone remote

Post by fackovec »

Hey all-

I have a XPR 4580 (Connect plus 900 digital ) control station hooked to a CPI TTP1 feeding 2 CPI 4 wire full duplex tone remotes. I am getting a loud hum on the rx line on both remotes. It is a new install, the cable run is a total of 60 feet of new twisted pair cable, (there are no splices, punch blocks or etc to mess up the works.).

When I disconnected the audio line from the radio the noise goes away. So I assume that it is being generated in the audio out from the control station.

Has anyone dealt with this yet? Is there anything in the programming that I can change, or pull the rx audio from a different location etc...?

any heap will be greatly appreciated

A hum is typically a ground issue (i.e. balanced line unbalanced).

I would use a small battery powered audio amp to listen to the telco line, audio lines to narrow it down.
