Full length UHF whip for Gen 1 HT?
Over the years, I have accumulated half a dozen XPR6550's, 6350's, etc. I have removed the factory antennas, put them in a bag, & used the 403-520 whip from the Jedi, Astro Saber, & XTS radios. They work well. So today I was looking in the bag, & found there are 2 different sizes of whips that came with the XPR's. From the tip of the metal threaded part, to the tip of the plastic ball, one is 6 3/8", & the other is 5 1/2". Both say UHF, neither says GPS, & they are genuine antennas that came with the radios. Anyone know why there are 2 different sizes? On earlier antennas for the Jedi-XTS line, the color of the plastic around the hole for the pin identified the band, & antenna. Eg, red is 800, & blue is 900. But these are both white. Anyone know? GARY

You have pics, not all of them said GPS on them. I’m pretty sure I have both as well. The GPS one is a little thicker on the bottom.

I have this note from a document I made on MOTOTRBO antennas from 2010 (XPR6550).
Non-GPS, Whip, full length
PMAE4022, Whip, 403-470 MHz, Black, 16 cm long (about 6 3/8")
PMAE4049, Whip, 450-527 MHz, Brown
GPS, Whip (note: these are not full length whips. Non-GPS whips may have better performance)
PMAE4018, Whip, 403-433 MHz, Red, 14.1 cm long
PMAE4024, Whip, 430-470 MHz, Green, 14 cm long
PMAE4050, Whip, 450-495 MHz,
PMAE4051, Whip, 495-527 MHz,
Non-GPS, Whip, full length

All the plastic inserts on the bottom are white. Even on the longer antennas. Which bandsplit do I have? GARY
Re: Full length UHF whip for Gen 1 HT?
Which insert is white? The insulation between the center contact and the outer threaded stud? Yes, those are all white.
The inset ring that is between the outside of the threaded stud, and the outer skirt on the antenna is the the part that is colored depending on the band. Yours is probably black, so looks like it's just part of the molding.
Example, this one is BLUE (not the exact antenna, but shows you where to look).

Yes on both. But on these newer antennas, 16 cm, & 14 cm, that area is black. So what bandsplit would that be? On the older antennas, it was the color of the plastic between the hole for the center pin, & the threads. GARY.

The 5 inch one is GPS. They don’t say GPS I believe.

How do I determine the bandsplit? The color is black. GARYGtaman wrote:The 5 inch one is GPS. They don’t say GPS I believe.
