XPR6500 qustion
Hello. I have been told that the XPR6500 is now being made in a 450-512 split. Is this true? Only ones I have seen on the net and ebay are the 403-470 models.
I'm gonna need a third job just for this "hobby"!
Re: XPR6500 qustion
Yes it's true
For TRBO it's a T split radio

So what does it take to put this T model onto 445-450 ham band? Not so easy as the old DOS RSS Shift Key I suppose.securitymikey wrote:Hello. I have been told that the XPR6500 is now being made in a 450-512 split. Is this true? Only ones I have seen on the net and ebay are the 403-470 models.

Re: XPR6500 qustion
Well I just got a T split 6550 with V1.03.02 firmware radio and need to get it into 440-450 so it can talk to my 8300 and our IPSC network. Any chance this has been done and the secret revealed. Or someone interested in swapping a low split 6550 or 6500 for this T? The Shift Key hack did not work.mikeps wrote:So what does it take to put this T model onto 445-450 ham band? One way which was posted was to use "Mantisware TripleDES encryptor" program to decrypt the codeplug...change the bandsplit limits...encrypt the codeplug, then load it into CPS. Further details can be found here:

No trees were harmed in the posting of this message...however an extraordinarily large number of electrons were horribly inconvenienced.

You can take the Trbo out of band very easily using the "hack" that Todd points out.
Keep in mind the following:
To make changes to the radio in the future, you will have to ensure that the CPS you use is hacked. You will also have to start with the saved version of your codeplug that has the adjustments made in it.
If you go to another computer and read/write the radio you risk the CPS resetting the values to their "in band" defaults.

Thanks to Todd for pointing me in the correct direction and the gotchas here from Alex. I looked at the decypted plug, see the areas to mod and should have a plug to try soon...appreciate the help...Mike
