XTL2500 Parts to Convert from Dash to Remote Mount

Post by scsttrooper »

Hello everyone... I have tried to search the site to make sure that I am not duplicating a topic and can not find this information anywhere.... so here goes...

I have a one piece XTL2500 that has an M5 (I guess the standard head) head that I would like to convert to a remote mount. Does anyone know exactly what items / part numbers I will need to accomplish this? Do I have to use the standard M5 head or will other heads work such as the W3 or O3 work and if so what is needed to make them work?

Thanks again for everyone on this forum replies to messages. It is your contribution that makes this site work so well.

The XTL2500 uses M5 series heads. However, the connections appear to be identical to the O5 XTL5000. Motorola makes an "H" series kit to convert the dash mount O5/M5 to an remote mount. The W series heads use a different kit. I have used the O5 "H" kits to convert an remote M5 XTL2500 to dash mount.

H1803 - Remote to Dash (W4, W5, W7 only)
H1804A - Dash to remote (W4, W5, W7 only)
H1817A - Remote to Dash for O5
H1818A - Dash to remote for 05 (heads after 7-1-06) See note
H1819 - Convert W series to O5 head [Dash I believe](not M5 head)
H1820 - Convert W7 remote to O5 Remote (we've actually purchased these kits before to make our whole fleet O5 control heads [ the oldest ones were W7's ]

I have tried many times to convince Motorola that these should not take sales interaction to order these kits.
Most of the internal Motorola folks agree, but I've had little success in getting them availible as a part.

Note:
For going from Dash to Remote Mount for the XTL5000 O5 Control heads you will need to the following:
If the XTL5000 was purchased before 7/1/06 you will need to purchase part number H1824B.
If the XTL5000 was purchased after 7/1/06 you will need to purchase part number H1818A.
FWIW, the newer remote kit H1818A contains these parts:

Flex radio to tib: HKN6190B/8464459H03
TIB: Kit number PMLN5083A/PMUN1036A
Flex control head to head housing: HKN6191A/8464065H01
Control head housing: HLN1468A/HLN6912A
Bag of 4 screws: 0364332H02
Dust cover kit: HLN6954A
Mic dust cover: 1515327H02
HKN6188A-Iign power/speaker
Mounting trunnion: HKN6186A

Both kits must be purchased Above the Price Book and the cable needs to be ordered as an option:
G618 ADD: REMOTE MOUNT CABLE 3 METERS (10 FT)
G629 ADD: REMOTE MOUNT CABLE 17 FT
G610 ADD: REMOTE MOUNT CABLE 10 METERS (30 FT)
G609 ADD: REMOTE MOUNT CABLE 15 METERS (50 FT)
G607 ADD: REMOTE MOUNT CABLE 23 METERS (75 FT)
G879 ADD: REMOTE MOUNT CABLE 35 METERS (115 FT)
G582 ADD: REMOTE MOUNT CABLE 40 METERS (131 FT)

I have a new remote kit for your application with a 17foot remote cable. PM me if you need it.
Kilgore: Smell that? You smell that?
Lance: What?
Kilgore: Napalm, son. Nothing in the world smells like that.
Kilgore: I love the smell of napalm in the morning. You know, one time we had a hill bombed, for 12 hours. When it was all over, I walked up. We didn't find one of 'em, not one stinkin' dink body. The smell, you know that gasoline smell, the whole hill. Smelled like... victory. Someday this war's gonna end...

We have been trying to locate a H1817A to convert an XTL 2500 remote mount head back to a body mount head but cannot seem to find anyone with the H1817A kit. Anyone have one available?
