ASTRO Spectra CPS 05.03.00 and Win7 64 Bit
Not finding any answers in Search.
Runs fine in WinXP Mode under Win7 64 Bit, but running it directly in Win 7 64 Bit I get the Communications with radio failed message. I have tried all the compatibility modes and CPS is set to use the correct serial port (using a Prolific USB to Serial converter).
Has anyone got this combo to work or am I SOL with the 64 Bit OS?
Thanks!
Marshall

Are the drivers for the prolific converter actually 64-bit? Generally, the issue is with the USB drivers being only good for 32-bit.

The same USB/Serial adapter works fine to program my Uniden 396XT.

if you have troubles still consider running 32bit xp in a virtual box. I do the same on a Linux machine. haven't bricked a radio... yet

You're SOL on 64 bit. It doesn't work, even with a real serial port.

Thanks guys. I guess I am stuck in WINXP emulation land.

I have my system setup for dual boot... Windows XP 32bit for all my radio programming, and Win7 64 bit for my regular work... Works like a charm without the headaches...
Making a dual boot system is relatively easy, and I find it more stable than emulating XP in Win7...
Good Luck,
Seth

Did you try installing cps using compatibility mode? its different than just running it in compatibility.
