XTS5000 Soft ID

Post by N6LAU »

Which flashcode option needs to be present on an XTS5000 for the "Soft ID" tab to be available in the "Astro Configuration" window of the CPS? I have a 5k with a flash of 540088-001482-5 and it isn't there.

The astro25 radios do not have soft id in the same form as the regular astro series (astro spectra, astro saber, xts3000) have.

I understand that, but what I'm trying to figure out is why with my XTS2500s there is a tab for soft id in the Astro Configuration window and with the XTS5000 there is not. Both have the ARS soft id options in the General tab of the Radio Wide Config but the 5K doesn't have the afore mentioned "Soft ID" tab in the Astro Config window.

What I want to know is whether there is a flash option that would make the "Soft ID" tab available in the Astro Config window for the 5K or if this is simply not present with the 5K.

I understand it's part of APCO Packet Data Q/W947 on the Astro 25 platforms.

Interesting. Let me do some reasearch. I already found out that a new version 15 radio shows that option but an old one with the same flashcode doesn't!!

That is correct.
Here is a basic flash with it enabled.

100001-00"1"002-3

it is the 4th digit, byte 1. Your radio has the correct flash, so it may be a f/w issue.

Both host and DSP are 15.00.00 so I would think it's supported. The radio is a model 2 if that has any bearing on the issue.

Update. With the help of n7maq we were able to reach the conclusion that because the radio is a model 2 and not 3 the "Soft ID" tab is not present and presumably unavailable to be enabled other than ARS log-in purposes. Somewhat silly considering the XTS3K was able to do soft ID on model 2s so long as it was in the flash. Oh well.
