APX7K Speaker Mic (HMN4104) Thumb Screw

Post by RADIO43 »

Looking for part number for just the thumb screw for the above speaker mic. I believe it is common to all the 7K Mic's and programming cables.

Thank you in advance..

Looking for the same part number, I have had a few strip out. My Motorola dealer got replacement screws (at $15 each) and they were the "low profile" type that requires a screw driver to use.

The only decent thumbscrew I've seen for the APX/TRBO speaker/mic connection came to me with a cheap-but-okay aftermarket speaker/mic. It is literally a thumb screw that you turn with your thumb and index finger and it beats the hell out of the standard Motorola attachment screw.

I called parts about this a while back, had to scavenge one out of a speaker mic for my programming cable. They couldn't locate a part number for the thumbscrew. May have to go to the Fastenal store and see what they've got.

Here is what I got back from Motorola when a case was opened:

"Unfortunately we do not offer the thumbscrew as a replacement part, if it helps, I can tell you the thread type is a 4-40 UNC."

Sounds like its time to dust off the old McMaster-Carr catalog!

Grainger part 5RA59, $2.88 each, works perfectly. Received a few this morning.
