Help with error on XTL 5000

Post by rangerfourever »

Guys we have an XTL 5000 with older 7 head, dash mount, mounted in the Chiefs console. This radio is for interops on our statewide 700/800 Moto system. When turned on now , the power shows on but the screen is dark and then it flashes " FL 17/19" I assume this is some type of error code? Thoughts We did check the talk groups on another radio and they are fine, so assuming it is the radio.
thanks

01/90 means the control head can't talk to the radio. Control cable is damaged, brick isn't powered up or has a bad ground, or is terminally stupid. Have you flashed the radio lately? Were you doing anything that caused this error, or did it just magically happen on its own one day?

Suggest confirming the deck is receiving power, try a different head plugged into the deck, etc.

thanks tvsjr...radio has not been flashed lately. The radio is a dashmount, do not know if that makes a difference with your control head issues. Mechanics will check for bad ground etc and then if not fixed off to the radio shop.

thanks

Check your 12v power with the radio still hooked up, could be a corroded wire that can't handle the current of the radio turning on.

Thanks as always guys for the input. We pulled the radio and adjusted some of the wiring, reinstalled in console and powered right up . Can always count on the Lab for Moto answers!
