xts3000 firmware downgrade

Post by Jay »

I have a XTS3000 with the latest firmware in it - and I might want to set it up to operate on a Smartzone P25 7.x (9600 baud) system.

Is the CPS going to let me drop the firmware back to 6.x (whatever the 9600 baud version is)? Or it is going to error at me since that is an older version of firmware? I assume that I would want to have that option on in the flashcode before trying to throw the firmware out at it.

Jay,

The 6.xx.xx Host for 9600 is older by number only (6 vs 7).. It is current however for the specific purpose of operating 9600 P25 trunking. If memory serves correct from the last time I used that firmware, once that .cvn is loaded to the Smartrib (which seems to take forever), the CPS will flash the radio to that Host as if it were a normal upgrade. And yes, I believe the flashcode in the radio was set up with the Q361/9600 trunking operation before the Host change..

If your radio has old firmware, programming it with the latest CPS will not add any new features unless you have the latest firmware to match..

CPS = Customer Programming Software, Not CPS Software.

Am I correct in my understanding that the 9600 baud XTS 3000's only function in the 800MHz band, and that 9600 baud OBT with XTS 3000's yields greyed-out fields in the CPS that are necessary to make it work?

You are correct, 800Mhz only.
