Will the APX series such as the 7000/7500 do the DMR protocol in addition to the normal P25 trunked and conventional?
Radio would be 800/UHF R1.
Thanks,

Re: APX7000/7500 and DMR?
Nope - unless Moto adds the feature some day or someone rewrites the firmware (that would be a monumental task).
Re: APX7000/7500 and DMR?
Not to initiate or spread a rumor...but I heard the other day from a local /\/\ field person that the decision was made not to put TRBO in the APX line.

That's unfortunate. I read somewhere that all the 'tech' needed to do it is already present in the radio's hardware.

Re: APX7000/7500 and DMR?
Sure... it already has the AMBE codec and is TDMA-capable...
Re: APX7000/7500 and DMR?
Technical issues are one thing, coming up with enough of a business benefit for Motorola to justify investing a significant amount of engineering effort to make the APX radios do it is another.
Re: APX7000/7500 and DMR?
Morons didn't even add a third band like everyone else (Thales, Datron, Harris.......) let alone add some other useful waveforms.
Re: APX7000/7500 and DMR?
Not for nothing, but I think at or around IWCE last year it was stated that MOTOTRBO was suppose to be supported in 2012, but like anything, something could have changed between that Wednesday and today. Others who have looked deep into the software/firmware of the APX says it can't be done, but the Moto source at the time said it was (at the time) going to be introduced.
Not holding my breath though (but would be awesome)
