Squelch on MOTOROLA R 2600
squelch does not foncionne on MOTOROLA R 2600 what is the problem?

I can't say with certainty as there are many things that can cause this behaviour, but first thing is to check to see if the unit is actually receiving. If the unit appears to be receiving OK, but no audio, including the startup beep, then look at speaker, audio amp etc.
However, if the unit appears deaf, but you do hear a beep at startup, you've probably lost your Receiver Board (in J10). This has happened to a couple of members. One of the most common reasons for receiver board failure is the dreaded Capacitor Cancer. Basically one or more electrolytics start to leak and traces start corroding away. If you have this, you may be lucky if the damage is confined to traces on the board (there are two capacitors just above the edge connector) you can usually repair the damage. If you have damage to the edge connector, or the common bus below, much harder to fix.
You don't have much to lose by opening the unit, and inspecting the Receiver board. Be careful, as the CRT can store several hundred volts.

could you be a little more descriptive on what that means ?
Not sure if it means the squelch is stuck open or you get no RX audio.
There is an LED on the front panel on top of the squelch control to indicate if the squelch is open or closed internally at least

If you hear a beep when the unit first starts up, then the audio amp and speaker are working.
If the unit does not appear to receive, and the modulation display and squelch LED don't respond as you turn the squelch CCW, then it is likely you have a receive problem. One way to confirm this to to select the spectrum analyzer and see if the unit can actually receive a known local signal - then analyzer doesn't need the squelch open to work.
Is your squelch open all the time (constant RX audio) or closed (silent)?
