IFR 1900 upside down display

Post by rgpace »

I have three IFR 1900s, one is working perfectly except for the LCD that is now upside down and inverted. Do I need a new LCD module, is there a fix for this? Thanks in advance. Ron

Have you tried turning the 1900 upside down to be able to read the display?

Good one. Might be fun to try, but it is also inverted. I will need to turn it upside down and look at the reflection through a mirror.

usual fix is to tear apart the front panel and the TFT display to re-seat the internal connectors.

I usually verify with the display outside the unit first and RTV the connectors as a final step before complete re-assembly.

Same issue as the COM-120C ...uses same display.

you may want to consider upgrading to an LED back light while you have it torn down since the CFL's will eventually die.

Thanks, I opened the unit, re-seated all cables, and with everything apart, it worked properly! I did not RTV the connections however. So when I put everything back together, it went wacky again.

Sounds like a poor connection someplace. Have you tried to re-seat the connectors a number of times to attempt to remove any oxidation that may have developed on the contacts? This is a common problem in some of the ribbon cable connectors and some wire connectors with crimped on pins.

Use a pencil eraser on the contacts

Careful using the pencil eraser on the contacts as you can take the plating off. Use a gentile pressure doing this. It doesn't take much at all to clean the contacts this way.
