Radio Release Notes – Subscriber Release 7.11.5 Update –
April 2012

APX 7000/7000XE/6000/6000XE/6000Li/4000, 7500/6500/6500Li
New Version: Host/DSP – R07.00.10, CH – R13.00.01, Secure – R01.02.02
Bluetooth Option Board – R03.00.01
Old Version: Host/DSP – R07.00.05, CH – R13.00.01, Secure – R01.02.02
Bluetooth Option Board – R03.00.00
CPS Version: R07.00.00

Important Notes:

Abstract: UHF Range 1 APX6000 needs retune
System Platforms Affected: Any
Special Configurations: APX6000 or APX6000XE with UHF Range 1 capability
Description: Fielded APX6000/6000XE UHF R1 portable units, if shipped with a
firmware version earlier than R06.00.00, when upgraded to firmware version
R06.00.00 or later need to be completely re-tuned. The tuning is needed to assure
the proper operation and spec compliance of the radios. APX6000/6000XE UHF R1
radios shipped from the factory with R06.00.00 or higher will not need any retuning
when future upgrades are applied.

Abstract: FLASH memory reorganization
System Platforms Affected: Any
Special Configurations: N/A
Description: R07.00.00 implemented a reorganization of the FLASH memory in order to
provide memory space for storing downloadable language packs, improve POP25 speed,
and provide additional memory space for future feature development. This
reorganization will affect FLASH upgrade speed and codeplug programming speed. In
general, the download of codeplug/firmware information will be faster, allowing the
user to disconnect the radio from the CPS sooner than in the past, and the radio
will decompress and install the codeplug/firmware independently, without needing to
be connected to the CPS. The radio will need to be allowed time to decompress and
install the codeplug/firmware, during which all normal radio operation will be
suspended, and the radio will display "Updating...". If power is removed during
this process, it will restart upon the next power-up.

Issue Updates:

Abstract: APX7000 repeatedly transmits Group Voice Request ISP
System Platforms Affected: P25 Trunking
Special Configurations: N/A
User Symptom: APX radios may occasionally get stuck in a mode where they are
repeatedly transmitting Group Voice Request ISPs if the “Frame Sync Seek Period”
codeplug field is set to zero instead of the default value of 750 mS
Description: This firmware issue has been resolved.

Abstract: APX radio periodically goes OOR on Harris infrastructure
System Platforms Affected: Harris P25 Network
Special Configurations: N/A
User Symptom: APX radios monitoring the Control Channel on a Harris network may go
Out of Range approximately once every 10 seconds for about a half second, then
recover and continue operating.
Description: This firmware issue has been resolved.

Abstract: APX radios sending the wrong date information in location updates
System Platforms Affected: Any
Special Configurations: GPS in use
User Symptom: At power-up, radios are sending an incorrect year and month (always a
date in the future) in the location data packets. The day and time are correct.
This incorrect date is also seen if the location update is viewed on the display.
Description: This firmware issue has been resolved.

Abstract: APX radios may unmute late or not at all in Simulcast overlap areas.
System Platforms Affected: P25 Linear Simulcast
Special Configurations: N/A
User Symptom: APX radios may unmute late or not at all in Simulcast overlap areas
if the “Motorola Proprietary Features” checkbox in the CPS is not checked.
Description: This firmware issue has been fixed. There will no longer be any
dependency of modulator type on the “Motorola Proprietary Features” checkbox
