So finally it's here: Motorola DMR Tier 3.

Here's a link to the Motorola webpage http://j.mp/trbo-t3 and the press release http://bit.ly/1NARBZt.
If anyone is interested, I've put together some information on YouTube http://bit.ly/21P8hXx and my Blog http://bit.ly/1XYnjFA.
The product will begin shipping in mid-2016.

Good question! I'm not involved in what happens in the USA. My guess is yes. If not, and this is something you think is needed, then you need to push your Motorola account manager to get it ship accepted for the Americas.

The difference, certainly in Europe and Africa, is that customers are standards driven: you get asked about what standards your system conforms to before you get asked about the features it supports. In North America, from what I've seen, customers are features driven, this theory is supported by the relative success of things like Smartnet; LTR; Connect Plus and (until recently, though not really radio related) iDen.

DMR Tier 3 is something folks been pushing for here in Europe and Africa (and in the Middle East too I guess) even though, until recently, a manufacturer only had to show 6 things worked in order to be "Tier 3 compliant". Historically, it has been MPT1327; TETRA and Astro that have been the big sellers here.

Looks like it's now in the US

"Capacity Max can be run in DMR Tier III “Interoperability” mode"
I'm guessing that becomes bare bones DMR without RAS and all the bells and whistles. This should be interesting.
