XTS3000 SmartNet/SmartZone Type II Question

Post by AConley »

Before I dive into the post: Bought this from the County when they had a public auction - they decided to upgrade to XTS5000's

I programmed this via ASTRO CPS w/ the system key input all my talkgroups and conventional channels. Set the radio to Affiliate "On PTT" w/ scanlists, hidden talkgroups etc.

The system I am talking about is a Motorola Type II SmartZone system. I set the radio to the coverage type of WAC AMSS and input some of the control channels from RR's list of sites. My issue is that when I go to any of the conventional channels that are programmed w/ the trunking scanlist and someone transmits over the TG, it is just static. I created Zone 2 and tried a normal 800Mhz conventional channel that I can receive on my MT2000 and it worked perfectly fine.

Current FlashPort Code: 5400080000007

I do know that this radio will work when affiliated on the County's RCS since it was bought from Big /\/\ directly by the County.

It sounds like it is an ASTRO-25 system. That is a Motorola bastardization of APCO-25, using a Smartnet control channel but using P25 CAI on the voice channel. But since it ISN'T APCO-25, they use a different manufacturer ID on the P25 voice frames. It could be that since you have programmed the channel as conventional, the radio is not switching from analog to digital and/or is not decoding the non-standard voice frames.

Have you tried setting the channel to P25 CAI?
This is my opinion, not Aeroflex's.

I WILL NOT give you proprietary information. I make too much money to jeopardize my job.

I AM NOT the Service department: You want official info, manuals, service info, parts, calibration, etc., contact Aeroflex directly, please.

Set the coverage type to disabled, and forget about hidden groups. Just program it.
MAKE CERTAIN Affiliate on PTT is on, and set both positions of the concentric to Tx Inhibit.
Works fine all over SoCal - OC CCCS, SD RCS, ICIS, etc.

Sounds more like a rebanded system and your radio doesn't have rebanded firmware. MTS2000s would do this with pre-rebanding firmware with the correct rebanded CCs set. When the CC directs the subscriber to a rebanded VC, the radio goes to the wrong channel.
What is the HOST version of this radio?
