Astro Spectra CPS

I have Astro Spectra CPS Ver. 03.00, a Motorola rib and Motorola cable. My computer is XP. These have worked on other radios. I now have a different Astro Spectra and the display says Service after a read try. The error message is communications with radio failed. What is the latest version of software and what version of windows will run it? The radio does not have the original tags.

Latest version is 05.03.00

It won't read/write a radio using 64bit windows. With that said, I've used it on windows 7 32bit without any problems.

Astro Spectra CPS is terminal at R05.03.00

I run it on Win 7 32bit with no problems.

there is a different CPS for the Astro Spectra vs. the older analog only Spectra's

the reason I mention that is if the radio doesn't have a tag it may be an analog version.

normally you would get a codeplug too new error if this was a version issue.

Pull the top cover and see which controller is installed.

It may also be an Astro Spectra Plus which also uses a different CPS ....uses the P25 Mobile version ...also used on the XTL's

That requires a different ribless cable setup ....through the rear connector or the microphone jack

You are correct. Just found out it is a PLUS model. Does not use Spectra ASTRO programming.

You may need a different cable for an AS+

If it’s a Astro Spectra Plus you’ll need ASTRO25 Mobile CPS. Terminal revision is R20.01.00. It’ll run on Windows 10 64bit. You will need a different programming cable than the regular Astro Spectras. It is HKN6155B.

cheapest cable is a direct RS-232 to the rear 15 pin connector.

by default the controller is jumpered for RS-232 but the jumpers can also be moved to support a VRS

The programming cable for the W series microphone connector are typically rare and expensive.
