XTL5000 question

Post by n0vzc »

Hello,
I have a XTL5000 radio that has the flashcode of 000001-002000-5. I have some old Astro Spectra Plus radios. Can I take the digital board out of one of them and put it in the XTL5000 radio then reflash it to a digital flashcode?

Thanks,
Mike

Um....no. Two totally different radios hardware wise. The XTL5000 is one board construction.

Jason,
What does the flashcode mean by "Astro Ready"? Is their a way to enable digital in the radio?

Thanks,
Mike

"Astro Ready" is just a fancy way of saying "Analog only", plus I guess from a marketing perspective the term may entice people to upgrade?

If you change the flashcode you change the feature set. Officially speaking, to change the flashcode you will need to order an Upgrade iButton from Motorola, of course there are other less-legal ways to do it but they require some specialized tools that cannot be discussed here.
