APX900 portable

Has anyone seen the APX900 portable? I just noticed it on the Motorola site.

Is it the XPR7550e with P25 firmware? Sure looks like it.

I would say it is as well, and it lines up with the fact they both offer single key software AES.

We just got one in to play with it. We ordered it with Multi-Key, so it will support multiple keys. But only just one algorithm. One odd thing for us was loading the keys, you use the programming cable. Plug it's USB end into the KVL4000. You can't load it with the hardware cable as you do the APX7000 or 8000. Otherwise it is a very small form factor for our guys wearing suits, but NOT for our cops on the street in uniform. Just my 2 cents.

You can get AES in Trbo everywhere put the USA for under a grand. The same basic radio, both platforms will support either TRbo or P25 (same hardware) but Motorola puts the price point for the APX 2-3 times what the Trbo version retails for.

That's about 50% the cost of a APX6000 3.5 which starts at $3,455.00 before you add any line options.

The pricing is very close, but the APX1000, with the exception of the 900 MHz model, is a single knob radio. I have been deploying the 1000's for about 6 months and have found no issues with them and we get around the single knob issue by using the softkeys on the front for "Zone Up", "Channel Up", and "Channel Down".

Our contracted price is $1073.00 that is P25 Phase I and includes 2 batteries and a single unit desk charger.

The baseline pricing in eCAT is identical, and the common options pricing is identical. 900 gives you AES capability, 5-line display (4 text, 1 icon)(1000 is 4-line, 2 text, 2 icon) and bluetooth.

Sorry because I wasn't subscribed I didn't see the reply. Wavetar is correct on pricing, but you lose some ruggedness/IP rating and the display is nowhere near as rugged on the APX900 vs the rest of the line.
