CP200d always on

Post by arlojanis »

I have a CP200d UHF that is always powered on. I removed switch-volume control and radio is still on. The switch applies ground to turn radio on. There is 500 ohms on switch lug. Where is that leakage coming from?

Recover the radio and try again.

Also, power switch off. Radio battery placed on radio. Radio still powers up? Or only gets lost when you throw the battery on while the power switch is on?

Radio switch off and radio is on. Radio switch removed from board and radio is on. Battery does not make any difference when taken off and on. The on problem is caused by the 500 ohms to ground on the hole where switch was soldered to board. Without a schematic, it is hard to find where the resistance is. A good board has 7000 ohms when switch is off and 0 ohms when switch is on. There is a capacitor I can see with ohm meter on good board. Do not know where it is. There is not a manual for the North American CP. Is there a manual for the other regions?

Just tried to read with CPS and unable to detect device error. However, radio will receive and transmit without a switch and volume control installed. Have max volume.

Motorola will not provide a DSM for that radio for any reason. In the past we got restricted DSMs via CD and FedEx signed delivery. Motorola has too much IP leakage and just doesn't provide the documentation anymore. Only hope is send it in.

CPS will not read radio. I think chips must be scrambled. Radio is now in box with other duds. Are there any manuals for European or asian models? If so, what is model number?

I now have a new, just out of the box XPR3500e that will not power off. Looks like this is starting to happen to other models.
