Minitor 3 disassembly

Post by DAL-COM »

I have a couple of Min 3's with various problems. How do you open the case without disfiguring it?
Thanks

Very carefully! If you have an old or new case you can see where there are 4 snap tabs (two on each side) that hold the pager halfs together. After removing the single torx screew out the back and removing the battery door you can look in the battery compartment and see the tab. Pry it out of the slot (the pager back has female slots that snap into the male tab on the front) and raise the back case. Insert a very thin screwdriver under the pager gap you just made and undo the other snap on that side. You can then pull the back off and to the left with the clip facing you knobs top. Good luck as the tab in the battery case is the only one you can actually see. It is a pain until you practice on a few.

Well, I tried for half an hour and could not release the tabs. I must be missing something. The tabs seem to be part of the inner battery case not the outside case.
Thanks.

The Minitor 111 employs the latest in "smash apart technology" (SAT) We have found that finesse often does not work well on this supremely engimineered device. Our "pager guy" found a pair of "reverse" pliers that spread apart when squeezed instead of together. Insert into the battery compartment (after removing the screw) and it's heave-ho. It really feels like you are going to really bust the case to hell but usually opens with out too much complaint. The first one will really make you wonder you thought this system up. Apparently Al Qaeda have infiltrated Motorola's ranks and are designing pager housings and other "high quality" electronic systems...
