Spectra conversion - A7 to A4

Post by k3td »

I have a high power UHF Spectra in my Jeep with an A7 remote head. I would like to replace the A7 head with an A4 head. How tough is this to do? What hardware do I need besides the A4 control head?

Thank in advance for the help!

Just swap the A7 w/ the A4.

Next in the RSS change the control head type to "rotary"

You are now done.

In some cases you may not be able to change heads
that easilly, but most times it works that way.

There are usually three choices for head types, if it is not an A9, and they are:
Enhanced
Standard
Rotary

Enhanced could be an A5 or A7, as could Standard.

Enhanced/Standard refers to if the Control Head
Board will support a DEK. Only Enhanced support
That. Also Enhanced Remembers the Backlighting
setting. Standard head, you have to cycle the dim
button all the time when you power the radio up at night.

In any case, Rotary sets it to A4.
