I have another question. I have a Syntor X9000 VHF and I use it for 2m ham. On frequencies lower than 146.6-146.7 when the radio is cold, it won't transmit. Listening on the scanner, it sounds like a playing card in the spokes of a bicycle. As the radio warms up, everything slowly returns to normal and the radio starts transmitting in that range again. I don't know for sure if it's temperature cause, but it sure seems that way. Any help would be appreciated. Has anyone seen this before?

I assume you have a 150-174 MHz range 2 split 40 or 100 watt Syntor X 9000? Try opening the top of the radio with the push button under the handle and locating the VCO unlock LED. If you turn the receive scan on and off the unlock LED should turn on and off (it will light up when scanning). When the radio is cold, open the top and transmit. If the VCO unlock light stays on when you transmit (a single brief flash is normal) then the VCO tuning is marginal for these frequencies when it is cold.
