Off topic : Kenwood tk230 questions

Post by stangmansvo »

My local VFD is looking for some cheap VHF portables and I found some tk230s for sale. My question (since these are older portables) is:
anyone have any info on them? I need to be able to program in the 155-159mhz range and like to know if these will work?

thanks

They will work just fine. The bandsplit is 150-174 mhz on those radios.
I actually will work down in the ham band as well with a little less sensitivity. Good solid radios, the batterys are still available as well.

They were available as 20 channel or 100 channel radio. There is a flip switch used on the 10 channel radio to switch from bank A to bank B.

The 100 channel jhad an extra knob in the center for selecting additional banks of channels.

Approved for use in the United Kingdom. That may change things abit, I beleive they had a different feature set on the UK radios.

MMMMMMMM well now . I wonder if they might still work on the 150-160mhz band? for the price of $50 plus shipping its hard not to take a chance on these.
