It's possible, but not easy/cheap. There's a method outlined in the model specific section of Batlabs that's reported to work. You need:

2 - ribless cables. This will not work with regular RIB & cables.

1 - firmware upgrade program

2 - HT750 radios. One being the 4-channel unit, the other being the 16-channel unit. Both radios need to have older firmware than the program you've obtained.

There's more info on Batlabs, but you basically make a Y-cable with the tx line disconnected in one of them. You perform the firmware upgrade on the 16 channel radio with the 'good' cable, while the 4 channel radio is connected to the cable with the tx line missing. The 4 channel radio tries to tell the program it can't be upgraded, but since the tx line is cut, the 16 channel firmware is forced into the radio. You end up with a copy of the 16 channel radio, serial# and everything.

It's been confirmed here by a member that you can't simply dump a 16 channel codeplug into a 4 channel radio. It'll give an error.

Sounds like alittle more than I want to tangle with.

You can do a search and see some of the previous conversations/threads on this topic. We need to keep working on the hacking. It has to be possible, just that Moto got alittle smarter on keeping these from being hacked.

I've hex edited about every file that comes with the PRO Series CPS and also ran through my disassembler trying to figure out how the did the channel configuration. If we had enough people looking at it and each put into an 'running/live' thread, we'd get i figured out. One of these days I'll start looking at it again. I still have some 4 channel radio's I'd like to update....

I doubt you'll ever be able to add channels by editing the codeplug. Sundown can already manipulate the data going into the radio, and the radio gives an error when you try to change things like number of channels. It seems to be imbedded in the radio firmware.

Not quite... It appears that the information on the number of channels and other feature information is stored in the Read Only memory section that immediately preceeds the codeplug memory. This is a sort of parameter memory, although I don't think the tuning parameters live here :)

I'm still unsure if the firmware is actually different between the 4 and 16 channel versions, and whether the radio will successfully perform as a 16 channel should the RO parameter memory reflect that of a 16 ch radio. I haven't looked into it further since my last post on the topic :)

One thing is for sure.... There are no CPS files you can edit to make a 4ch into a 16ch radio.

Has anyone had any luck in converting a 4 channel to a 16 channel....My guess is Andreas. I have everthing needed for the conversion, except the Y Cable for the 232. I'm a little scared since I never did a firmware upgrade. Also, I need to get my hands on some firmware flash upgrade, but MOL is no help. If anyone has had any luck in converting a 4 channel to a 16 channel can you send me a pm.

Thanks
Steve
