"You can convert a trunking Maxtrac or Radius back to conventional 800MHz operation. You will need to replace the trunking firmware in the radio with conventional firmware."

I would like to convert my trunked Maxtrac to a conventional Maxtrac, I'm aware of how to blank the logic board and align and test, and I have all the equipment to do so. I'm running into a problem with changing the firmware...Ummmmmm...Yeah, How do you do that? If someone would be so kind as to maybe give me instructions on how to? you can Privite Message me or put it down here. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

On the logic board, U804 is the EPROM that has the software for running the program for what type radio you tell it it is. For Trunking, depending on the model, it is usually a HLN9260 or HLN9435 chip. For conventional you need a HLN5569 or HLN9499 chip. The 5569 is the current one available from Motorola and usually costs around $25. Hope this helps.
