Motorola HT1550XLS Programming Issue

Post by DopeCop »

I am attempting to enable the EMERGENCY DECODE for MDC 1200 on several radios. MDC1 is selected for the signalling option in Conv Ch. 1 in both TX and RX.

Under MDC System 1 when I check "Emergency Decode" and save the Code Plug,.... when I come back to it, it is no longer checked.

Any ideas?

Have you tried using the search feature? This has been covered a number of times previously.

For starters, you will need at least R05.08.03 firmware, and R06.05.00 CPS. Earlier versions will not support this feature.

Also, as has been mentioned previously, be very careful when enabling Emergency Decode on more than one radio on a given channel. Any radio decoding the emergency call will send an acknowledge packet and silence the radio that is in emergnecy. You can easily cause an emergency alert to go unnoticed, with the person sending the alert thinking they have been received and acknowledged. This can be a very dangerous feature if used improperly!

Actually, I did a search prior to posting. I posted after finding NOTHING on the topic. Even being new, I searched to see if the issue had already been discussed.

But thanks for the info anyway!

I wonder what you used as search parameters? I turned up these within seconds using "emergency and decode and ht1550xls"

My search

Post by DopeCop »

Here was my search - ht1550xls emergency decode

Guess if I would have searched with the 1550 at the end, it might have come up. Oh well.

Your search gave me a lot of info as did HumHead's. After looking at all of the info, I am not sure that this option is a good idea considering. I can see where this might be a problem in the field. Wonder if M will ever fix this?

Anyway, thanks for all the info.
