Programming computer help...
I just got an older AST Laptop from the PD to use as a programming computer. The CPS works good with the HT1250's, but when using the MTSX 6.7 for the MTS's and HT1000 RSS, the radio is not able to be read. It's giving me a protocol error. I used my other programming laptop and the cable and rib work fine, the radio's are able to be read and written to, so I know it's not those. Does it have something to do with the 9 pin serial port? It is COM 1 in Windows for the CPS, so it should be in the DOS RSS. Is there a setting that I am missing?

First how fast Is the computer your useing..... I have to shut to what is called true dos...... If you in windows and you go to turn of computer and pick shut down to dos....that is not true dos.... click restart and press F8 repeatly until it comes up with a screen that gives you about six options it should be f5 when that screen comes up to let you type in command prom..... try that I know in order to program rss stuff in dos the computer needs to be 366Mhz or slower mine is 388 thats why I have to run true Dos.....
We dont need gun control....We need people control.....
Windows ME?
I had this issue using Windows ME. Not sure why but if you put the radio in the charger abd attempt to read/write while the radio is in the charger, it worked half the time.
The HT 1000 RSS requires true DOS. It will NOT work in a DOS window, under any Windows operating system. See this link for all of your programming needs: http://www.batlabs.com/newbie.html

What DOS mode are you using (boot disk, real DOS 6.22, 'reboot in MS-DOS mode', etc)?central150 wrote:I just got an older AST Laptop from the PD to use as a programming computer. Joe, I'm sorry, but that is still actually Windows, and Windows still has control of the COM port. The only way to run "true DOS" on a computer running Windows is to either use a DOS boot disk, or run a utility, like System Commander, that allows multiple operating systems on the same computer. You may get away with using "F8" to program your radio 99 times, then the 100th time, you may turn it into a paperweight....joe1234 wrote:First how fast Is the computer your useing.....
