Outrageous /\/\ Prices for Parts

Post by 60hzEE »

I thought that I'd replace the "Dim" button on my A9 head with a blank one, since the new front bezel has Dim on it. I had to order some other parts, so thought I'd just add that to the list. It couldn't cost much, just a small piece of black plastic, right?

Well, shock city!!!! A 38-80092J05 blank key is just $5.45!!!

For that amount of $$ I'll rub off the !$&#>% Dim label on the button. Incredible. For a piece of black plastic, 1/3 the size of a feature button, they want $5.45.

Guess they don't want parts business.

Ah, the inane beauty of /\/\'s random pricing. I just ran it on MOL and got $4.63.

Anyone else? I'm curious just how wide th espread is.

Hello:

Ever since the Galvin Clan step down, Motorola
has been on a Murder Campaign of the Low-Mid
Tier Communications Companies.

There was once a time when prices were fair
and resonable, but I recommend to persons
due a little digging, and you might be surprised
what you may turn up.

You could buy hardware for .10 , .20, .30, Now
its 5.00, 10.00 from Motorola and sure makes
their Company look bad.

For small parts and hardware: BUY DIRECT

Buy your parts from a vendor Like Mouser, Digi-key,
Jameco, and where ever.

Regardless of " What Motorola may think " when their
" Wholesale " price is 10X Retail, it forces users to
go elsewhere to buy radios.

I realize the need to charge a fair price
( to some degree ) But from my
perspective, their polices ( and Prices ) STINK.

I have warned them about this time and again, and
the they learn " After the Fact " One major reason
many " Aftermarket Batteries " showed up was due
to the 140.00 Price tag on a MX BAttery......( Hello )

But, then they went on a campaign to bring the customer
back, and has not happened in 10 years.

All that is needed is Fair and Resonable practices
on parts and supplies, and they still could be a leader !

Keep up with the Rip Off prices, soon, there may not
be many customers left.

I guess its a great example of pricing without competition.

/\/\ used to be a model of corporate reinvention, since it competed openly with itself via differing models, etc.

Having lost the Galvin leadership, its now a company interested in major customer sectors, such as Nextel, its cellular handset sales, and multi-million $ trunking system sales.

So, who needs conventional two way gear, what with the annoying Nextel trunked "push to talk" (TM) blurping away in restaurants and businesses everywhere. Full duplex really IS an old-fashioned way to quickly communicate.

I solved my problem (of needing a new blank button) with a little solvent and a Q-tip.

Its nice that /\/\ gives a few of you a 15% discount. But, 85% of outrageous is STILL outrageous.

You think that's bad try 12 bucks for a dust cover for the accessories port on a MTS-2000.

It could be worse: aircraft parts. The best part of $400 for an official alternator belt for a Piper Cherokee, which is $9 at an auto parts place, with identical manufacturer part numbers on it!
