Radio Shacks stainless steel whip is 102 inches long with 3/8"X24 threads.
Item number = 21-903
Have your buddy make an extension 16 inches long or consider adding the spring and a shorter extension or shoot maybe even two springs one on top the other with a 3/8 inch screw stud to screw them together.
Not saying it would be pretty but would do the trick.

118"
Hello.
Called my local CB emporium, and they have 118" antennas, in stock.
It would seem that some CBers run antennas a little longer and use a cap to match it.
This is usually done when running over 3000 watts, as the antenna base tends to arc.
What people will do?!
The antenna is actually almost 119", but you can cut a bit off.
I do this for 52.525MHz.
