HT600 2 to 6 channel conversion

Post by EddieC »

Anyone have any info on which bit to change in an HT600's codeplug to convert it from a 2 channel model to a 6 channel model. Batlabs lists a program called 2to6.exe that will do this, but I can't find it on the net anywhere.

Thanks,
Eddie

What radios do you own?: Too many

This has been discussed many a time.
Thats the good news.
Do a search on ht600 and you should find a post by Elroy Jetson 07-may-2002.
Something like "stupid simple way to convert HT600 2ch to 6" or something similar.
It sounds too easy to work, but I rememeber doing a couple years back.
FOLLOW the instructions and it will work.

No, I don't think I would try that.
But you say it has worked?
This one was making a NEW codeplug, as if you had repaced boards. .

2to6exe Works great

Post by raymond345 »

2 to 6 exe works great.
place the cabling to the ht600 like you are going
to read with the normal rss.(Do not use the normal RSS).
you fire up the 2 to 6 program then press enter and you are completed.
This is very friendly to use. One min. and you are finished.

Thanks for all the help, guys. I just got a half dozen well used VHF HT600's that are two channel. Making them 6 channel will make them a little more useful. Otherwise, they were going to be relegated to WX Alert radios. It seemed such a waste.

Thanks again,
Eddie

2to6.exe Help

Post by cshiflet »

I have downloaded the program2to6.exe, but cannot get it to work. I am able to program the radios with no problem, so I know that all the equipment works. Can someone provide step by step instructions to help? I’m not up on all the acronyms so please help.

The 2to6.exe generally requires an extremely slow computer to work, even more so than the HT600 RSS. What type of computer are you using (speed, OS, etc)?

It's been posted here that you can't get it to do Wx alert. Apparently the HT600 isn't capable of decoding a single tone, need a A & B which NOAA doesn't transmit.
