Need help with a Motorola MC Spectro

I have used the radio for 6 months and now it is dead. I have problems when starting this radio. When you push the on/off button the radio flashes for half a second and then goes dead.
When you pushes on/off button again it gives a bip as if you turned it off. Can anyone PLEASE tell me why this happens????

When I got the radio last year I had the same problem. I turned it in to A Motorola service senter, and they told me it needed to get the software reprogrammed. Is this the freq. specifications in the 2816 eprom or is there more to program in the other prom?

I had to pay 260$ to get it reprogrammed and I hope i NEVER have to send it to Motorola again.

chuck it in the trash and buy a spectra

or

ebay it as a parts radio, then buy a spectra


sorry, but the spectra is a hell of a lot better radio than the MC
