Just ordered my first samples today as we are considering becoming a dealer for them. I'll keep you all informed as to my opinions on them as soon as I have a chance to test them.

Well, just got my sample order in the other day and, as promised, here is my evaluation of them. Not a bad light for the money. Nice brightness, good quality and a nice price. We're going to pick the line and become a distributor, but I believe NYPD here on the board is a dealer already, so I won't be selling on the board for the time being.

Evaluation

Post by gtl7001 »

I also bought a dual version for evaluation purposes. They are currently nearly 50% less expensive than a dual Talon. The case is slightly smaller in size when compared to a Talon and well constructed using aluminum. The suction cup mount is also made of aluminum with 3 suctions cups that hold quite well to glass even in colder temperatures. The mount is also designed to be optimally mounted in the front windshield. In terms of brightness, they are not as bright as the Talon [quite frankly IMO no current LED light is as bright as a Talon] and have a more limited axis of light dispersion when compared to the Talon. However, they do run silently where as the Talon has a tick-tick sound similar to a strobe. In terms of patterns the LEED lights have half the pattern options than the Talons, but it does have the California steady on option. Also, if your agency requires that you purchase equipment Made in the USA, then you need to look elsewhere, the LEED lights are Made in China. My final take, is that for the price, excellent metal construction, and brightness they do make a good choice for auxiliary warning lights. By the way my application was to provide frontal warning and pair this led system with a FS halogen Firebeam with a pair of TIR3's in the grill. Hope this evaluation helps someone.

I saw the lights that Chuck had ordered. Nice little lights. They have some decent brightness and I like the aluminum housings. I will say that I like the Talon and the Sho Me lights a lot better though. I just recently purchased a Dual Green Talon and it wipes the floor with most other LED lights.

So for someone on a tighter budget these LEDs will do the job nicely, and they won't kill your wallet. But if you have a little bit of cash to spend. Go with the Sho Me or Whelen LED lights.

Yeah I think he had a dual and a single green in stock. The dual was $260 after tax and the single before tax was like $180 I think.

LEEDs

Post by TacticalOne »

Yeah , they are priced GREAT and work awesome too.

We took on the line and are a dealer now.

I think they are going to be coming out with some new models for 2005 (maybe a traffic advisor type..??).

Dont hesitate you'll like these lights unless you need to pay double and have the Whelen name!

I saw them at Chucks shop about a month ago...

My take...

They are nice lights for the price. They fill the gap between the current Whelen TIR6/Linear LED's and the older-yet-still popular gen 1 LEDs.
