Best scanner for Trunker?

Post by Fuel4300 »

I want to play around with trunker but I am currently using a BC785D but it doesnt have a discriminator output and I dont trust my soldering skills enough to rig one up.

So... I am looking for a cheap scanner that has a discriminator output but is as inexpensive as possible. It has to do 800 mhz but thats about it.

Any ideas?

Mike

On a side note, anyone out there who has a data slicer for sale or wants to make a couple bucks building one?

The "best " IMHO would be the Icom PCR1000.
But cheap, it's not.
It really isn't that hard to tap the dicriminator point
in most radios. If you want , get a cheap scanner with good
sensitivity and decent selectivity. Then either try it yourself or get help from a local Ham/ radioshop.

Analog already is interoperable.
