I have about 9 800Mhz Motorola trunking radios that have bought. I was told that they would do conventional repeater mode, but they won't. How can I get trunking service in lower Michigan? Do I have to get it through Motorola or a private company? How much $ should I expect to pay for county wide coverage?

Your radios will do repeaters. They must be programmed as conventional channels. As for a trunked radio provider, you should contact your local Motorola shop. They should know who is the main provider in your area or they can steer you in the right direction for a contact. Here in S.Carolina trunking rates run from 5.00 to 10.00 dollars a month per unit, not including a maintenance fee, but prices vary depending on the provider. The provider can also give you a idea of their coverage area. Hope this helps

Not all Motorola radios will do conventional.
Example, most 5 pin Maxtracs will not and I think the original MTX-800 won't either.
