DTMF Mic on a GM300 ?
A friend is thinking of buying a GM300 for Ham use but needs to be able to send DTMF tones to open up his IRLP node, will a DTMF Mic work on a GM300 ? I presume it will but am checking for him before he spends a few Quid.

I was looking on eBay because I need a DTMF mic for a GM300 VHF I was using for 2 Meter Ham. I notice there are several with different part numbers. Which ones are compatable with the GM300? Are the same DTMF mics for the GM300 also usble on the Maxtrac series?
I imagine they are, but I thougth I would ask in case there was something I didnt know. (See.. I am a HAM and I am admitting I dont know everything!)

Ahh, but they do with the addition of the mighty gear shift!sb wrote:Hi!
Motorola DTMF mike does not have the a,b,c,d that you may need for HAM aplications.

I believe I am correct in saying that the DTMF mic made for the CDM series radios will not work on a GM300?
I don't recall the model number for the mic, but I know it doesn't generate the tones itself, it just sends serial data to the radio and the radio generates the tones. This mic will also not generate the tones when hooked as a remote mic through the accessory connector. (Kenwood DTMF mics work this way too)
Also, is the older style that does generate the tones still available? I think last time we tried to get one and it was discontinued.. we ended up using the Shure Modu-link mics.
