HT 1250LS+ Question
I have an LS+ AAH25SDH9DP5AN. I do not do trunking, just conventional UHF. The question I have is how many conventional channels will this radio do?
Ive been trying to find or trade for a 470-512 conventional 128 channel model but havent had luck. I know my radio is 470-512, but I need more than 16 conventional channels.
Thanks in advance.

Wow, I didnt realize that the UHF version was limited to 16 conventional channels. I know the VHF version LS and LS+ models will allow up to 128 conventional channels. I wonder why they did that?
According to the Motorola website where you can find the brochure on the LS and LS+ models, it plainly states that only VHF does 128, but all other spreads will only do 16.

Do you have any documentation, or insturctions on how to do this through Motorola? I have had a lot of people ask about this, and I really have no idea where to point them.thebigphish wrote:my dept just paid $60 USD / unit for the magic "6AN" upgrade and the MDC/QCII signalling package. fyi
Calling the depot/customer service yeilds people with no idea.

we contacted a local M shop, who had done the same for our FD (shipping radios back to have the signalling package put in). I'll take a look at the sheet they send back with the radios when the next batch comes home, or i'll ask ed down at the shop exactly what was done, and how to get it done in the future.

HT 1250 LS follow up
Hello, I am also interested in the name of the upgrade of a 5AN to the features of a 6AN. I was wondering if the info was going to be posted? Thanks, Peter

Ok, the much anticipated radios are back . For those who wanted to get more conventional channels in a HT1250LS+, here is the info you were waiting for.
We originally had HT1250LS+ = "5AN" (and a 6AN - that was mine) that were hardcapped at 16 conventional freqs w/ an LTR system and the local UHF medchannels. We had recieved a idea from our FD who had "some signalling package" put in that would give the radios MDC & QCII functionality (which didn't work on the trunk, but they didn't know that). The radios were shipped off to the midwest via a local Moto shop for a firmware upgrade and we were quoted a price of $60/unit for the portables to be upgraded.
The radios as we recieved them came back as "7AN" models - which turned out to be capable of MDC&QCII on conventional frequencies, a way newer firmware (05.08.07) IIRC, AND 34 Conventional channels (w/ an LTR trunk in the codeplug). Possibly more if you strip out the LTR stuff and start fresh, but that was not a possibility at the time.
it is possible. i have the proof in the pudding.

so ...
that really doesn't help much since as previously stated, Depot doesn't have any idea what we are talking about when you contact them on this subject. please tell us what radio company to have this done (name/number/email, ect.) so we can have this done to all of ours. thier are a LOT of people looking for this upgrade ... please post on here and/or email me at C100sig12@aol.com ... thanks

and the paperwork on the specific units just listed "firmware upgrade" - nothing else more specific or more broke down than that. Things we found different right away was the "7AN", the newer firmware, and the 34 conventional channels.
rsqemt911, that's just down the street from you, if you called them....they should have atleast known about it. I think we have another batch going thru soon, i will have to see if i can pick some brains when i drop off the units, or atleast get a breakdown.
