Maxtrac 300 cant be read by RSS

When I try to read a VHF Maxtrac300 with the RSS, it times out and can not read. When I hit F10 to clear the error message on the RSS, the Maxtrac emits 3 beeps.

Anyone know whats wrong with it? The model number is D33MJA7DA5CK.

Yes, makes sure you get a little tooth brush and clean those pins in the mic connector. I've had thet happen before. Also check the timing calabration in steup, set it to about 1100.

I also found another interesting fact out about this radio. It is VHF 25 watt, but.... according to the FCC Type Acceptance, it is a 150.8-174 MHz radio. 150.8???? I have never heard of a 150.8-174 MHz Maxtrac before. It also doesnt have the adjustment screw on the back of the PA. Its the one that goes in the hole on the left hand side (looking at the back with the 5 pin connector on the right side) of the cooling fins. The hole is there but its blanked off.

I have never heard of a 150.8-174 MHz Maxtrac before.

As I recall, the 25 watt Maxtrac with unified chassis comes in
136-162 (Range 1) and 146-174 (Range 2)

It also doesnt have the adjustment screw on the back of the PA.

Adjustment screw? I'm looking at the PA of a D33MJA7DA5CK
that uses an HLD4323A power amp and the only thing that
looks like a screw is the threaded stud of Q2330. What is the
measured power output of your radio?

Could be that someone substituted the 25 watt amplifier with
a HLD9523A LPI 2 watt board?

That's what i was thinking, the mounting stud is the screw he is referring to.

Umm ok. Yeah.. the threaded stud of Q2330 (Or do you mean Q2630?). I guess thats what it is. I actually just looked in the service manual and that looks like what it is.

I cant take a picture though. My digital camera bit the dust. It was cheap anyway.

I mean Q2330.

Q2630 is the final for the HLE9502A LPI UHF power amp.

Yes, you were of great help! I was looking at the different schematics and this looks to be the case. Someone may have swapped the 25 watt PA with the 2 watt one. Ill investigate further to see. Thanks again!
