Ok Guys, It's that time again. Dayton Hamvention this year will take place May 20th to the 22nd.
Posted will be the channel plan that has been used for the past several years. Please vote as to whether you are going or not and post any suggestions for changes in the channel plan. Also BatDude.. are you putting together the "Mr Cook Birthday Bash" for this year?
Also. I have several rooms reserved in BeaverCreek, if anyone is in need of accomodations let me know by PM because space is limited. It comes with a couple of perks as well.
See you guys there.

Another great place to stay is the Holiday inn. Its about 20 mun. away, but they have a free shuttle bus to and from there all week end long running like every 45 minutes. Booked our room there at the last second there last year. Mayve see some of you there this year???
NO 800 Mhz Frequencies for the BATLABERS this year? Como'n this is BATLABS this not a HAM RADIO, MURS OR GMRS fourm.
If someone has a 800 conventional channel that is licensed and wants to provide a letter to the board stating that we are authorized to use it at dayton, then one can be used.
A reminder that all FCC rules regarding the above channels are to be followed!
As I am a Hamfest, as well as Ohio in general 'virgin', I have no idea where to stay. Can someone offer some suggestions for decent hotels? I'd rather not go broke, but I don't want to stay in a $hithole either.

Do a priceline.com search or something. That hotel was only like $89 a night and up. It has everything. Indoor pool and tub, work out room, free continental food, shuttle buses, arcade (if you like that kinda stuff ), and the rooms were nice. Give that a try

hi guys i am werking on a couple of pair for dayton this year, it is in the works, a 800 and 900 set....
ATTENTION!!! Anyone in need of a hotel room contact me by the 20th. I will be canceling the extra rooms I don't need on that date. If you need a room, I will change the name so you can call with a credit card to hold the room.

I have 3 of the two bedroom suites at the Beavercreek Residence Inn reserved. As of right now I am only using one of them. I am going to dump the other 2 unless someone wants them. The room rate is $179 a night plus tax.
I hope that answers anyone's questions.

theres always the UNOFFICIAL 800MHZ motorola simplex whored out in all the old SMR trunking radios, that freq is 853.4875 i will be carrying one of my old SMR radios, it had the freq put in there by motorola back in the day, think i paid a buck or 2 for it. besides, theres so many old 800 trunking/conventional radios in boxes at dayton, just pay 2 bucks for an old 810, throw a good batt on it, and you may be in luck if its not pl/dpl'd

You had to be there last year to fully understand. Mr Cook was a wonderful gentleman that celebrated his "birthday" with us at the Outback along with about 25 members of the boards in attendance.

Why would the Crowne Plaza have 4 rooms booked for U.S.M.S. and 7
for Motorola (held but no PO yet) for dayton may-17 tru 26th?
I am on the call list there now! If moto does not take all the rooms.
The lad on desk was mad about all the phones ringing for rooms and he told me he was just to park cars.
anybody interested in getting some useage out of your VHF DES GEAR?
i will have my old MX360 DES radio on my side running 151.880 DES
if anyone wants to be in on that PM me. it would be cool to decode others talking in DES mode and talk to others as well.
i have a DES BX keyloader with cables for MX radio and saber radios, so i could drop keys in your radio (S) too when on the grounds. even if you arent capable of being on the freq im on, ill still load your radios for your own channels as well.
also will be running astro VSELP with my AS3 i have more options with that, 151.880 151.625,154.600

This is going to sound dumb but if you head up I75 (I think). You'll see Outback and Longhorn on the left. Get off the next exit 3 left turns and it'll be on the left.
and if you spend all your money at my booth... I'll buy you dinner.

basically you exit little york road and the feeder road is called "MILLER" - once you exit, you'll see the signs. there are several resturants down there, w/ a Crackwhore Barrell on one side, outback and longhorn on the other.

JAYMZ do you know your booth # yet and what kind of items will you have?
I hit a great table last year im not shure if it was a board members table, this table had old moto mics and the guy working it left me have 3 mics for $5.00,im hoping to find some good deals down there this year
Unfortunately I don't know our spot numbers, I had gotten them a little late in the game. If we get to keep the ones we had last year it'll be 532 and 533. I'm waiting for a reply from the Flea Market dude from Hamvention to let me know.
I can't speak for the rest of my group but I will have some various Spectra equipment out.

I will be there, my spots are close to where we sere last year. I will have the beer, to hell with selling equipment, most of my $10 & $20 Astro radios will be gone on Thursday, that should free up more time for drinking and socializing.
I will have a sh1tpot of lightbars though, and some GE stuff.... can you say radio toss?

Kilgore: Smell that? You smell that?
Lance: What?
Kilgore: Napalm, son. Nothing in the world smells like that.
Kilgore: I love the smell of napalm in the morning. You know, one time we had a hill bombed, for 12 hours. When it was all over, I walked up. We didn't find one of 'em, not one stinkin' dink body. The smell, you know that gasoline smell, the whole hill. Smelled like... victory. Someday this war's gonna end...
I will be in the 2600 block....... passing out the beer.... and $20 astro's.

The Little York/Poe Ave exits are gone...... literally, the new exit is about a mile south, it is the Benchwood exit, go West, your first road should be Miller Lane, hang a right (north) and your there.
