2005 Dodge Ram Headlight Circuit

Post by elite vehicle solutions »

Hello All,

I am in the process of outfitting a 2005 Dodge Ram pickup. I was wondering if anyone had done one, and knew what type of switching the headlight circuit was, for Wig-Wags. I usually use a test light and see if it's positive or negative, but with this one the test light flashes instead of steady burn when the high beams are activated. Would this still be considered positive switched? or a different type of system. Any help would be appreciated.

Per Dodge:

NO ALTERNATIVE OR EMERGENCY LIGHTING SYSTEMS ARE TO BE TIED INTO THE VEHICLES LIGHTING SYSTEM. SUCH ALTERATIONS MAY DAMAGE THE VEHICLES ELECTRICAL SYSTEM AND/OR THEE ON BOARD COMPUTER SYSTEM. ANY SUCH ALTERATIONS WILL VOID THE VEHICLES WARRANTY.

In other words, no wig wags. If you want any type of alternation lights in the headlamps, I would reccomend a pair of strobes.

I have been talking with the guys over at http://www.dodgepolicecars.com/index.htm who outfit Dodge vehicles all day long. As long as the correct parts are used and wired correctly, all is good.

The way I wired in my wig-wags in a matter of minutes it can go back to stock. Its all how clean of an install you want. I have used mine for 4-5 months now and never had a problem. The lights at time will be on for several hours and still no problem.
