Looking for a QC Tone Generator for my PC...

Post by Paramedic606 »

Can anyone help?

I would like to input the Motorola tone codes and/or coinciding tone values and have the computer generate the 2 sequential tones.

I know this is fairly simple but I can't find any software out there that makes it easy to do it.

Thanks in advance!

Personally I use Cool-Edit

Allows you to generate any tone of any lenght by entering it's frequency in Hz. You can then save them as .WAV or even MP3 files.

I too use CoolEdit.

I've used it to test pagers and what not that I was servicing, and it worked fine.

It's also what I've used to make alert tones and such on my computer..

It's a shareware program, but, you can still save and generate tones if it's not registered.

Cool edit is very good... It can also create Quick Call 1 tones for those who still use it.... plus analyze existing tone frequencies on virtually any saved audio file format.

Cool Edit 96 has been cracked. Do a search for it on the Web and you'll find registration info.

for those interested I put together a small program that will take the 4 didgit quick call 2 tone and generate the the audio for you.

Its a bit more simple then some of these other ways.

you can download it at http://www.ittechs4u.com/Encoder

Gocart878,

I posted a Private Message to you w/ my Email address and some questions.

The program works fine in XP and I just uninstalled it and redownloaded it from the website and it installed fine.

So I am really interested in finding out where your problem lies.

Thanks.

Our A Tone is a non-standard 1395.0hz. The hex is 088A. It will not accept this code. Can it do it or am I SOL?

In MS-DOS 5.0 or earlier you can get into basic and generate audio tones.

In BASIC type

10 SOUND<audio frequency>, <duration> for tone A.
20 SOUND<audio frequency>, <duration> for tone B.
run or F2

Here's an example:

10 Sound 321.7,20
20 Sound 569.1,25

then RUN.

In my teenage years, I would tap the audio from the small speaker of a Compaq laptop and feed it into a rusty EICO signal generator. It worked flawlessly in those days. Thank GOD for the R-2400 :D

Good luck,

For those interesed I sent nmfire10 a custom patch to my program for his non-standard tones and this was his replay:
Yep, it's working. I just put them in it and it sure sounds like our tones. I'm going
to test it with a pager later on or tommorow.

Thanks!

Runs fine for me, but I can't find a "4-digit" chart. All the ones I see are for 3-digit.

The way that it works is that the 4 digit number is made up for 2 parts which gives us two 3 didgit codes/tones.

The 1st 3 didgits are the 1st code/tone and the 1st 2 didgits plus the last one give us the second code/tone.

for exampe: 1234 would equal 123 and 124
