radius turned maxtrac 300 scan problem

Post by coke »

I recently reinitilized a radius non-scanning radio (5 pin board) to a maxtrac 300 25w, scanning, w/ tpl/dpl/carrier squelch. The problem I'm having is that when your scanning, and you pick the mic up off the hook, talk, and replace it, it doesn't go back into scan like my other maxtrac 300. When I initialized it with Labs, I selected "Standard" from the product line vs. Maxtrac cuz I didn't wana mess is up, but I'm wondering if anyone out there has had this problem and if anyone has a solution for it. My other maxtrac only suspends scanning till your done talking and hang the mic back up and then it starts scanning again. Any replies would be appreicated. Thanks!

That's the way the 5 pin boards behave.
(Except maybe the expanded 5 pin board that will take the HLN5569 eprom firmware)

I have a Maxtrac 300 that has the 5 pin board. Doesn't behave the same way. I was kind wondering if it was the way I blanked it. Any one know where I can get the newer firmware?

To clarify Max-tracs CORRECT statement.

The 5 pin logic bd will behave the way you described if it has the masked prom on it.

It can scan as you would like it = If the 5 pin bd you have has a removable eprom on it.

The 5 pin logic bd that ive run across that does have the removable eprom is a HLN5173B logic bd which has the Radius Division chip version 4.00

Im thinking your 5 pin logic bd is the MASKED type HLN9123A type that doesnt go back into scanning after a mike lift from its clip.

If by chance you do have the 5 pin logic bd HLN5173B then as Max-trac sugested put in the HLN5569 eprom and reiniate with it.

At least thats been my experience .

(below applies to 5 pin boards with U804 plug in eproms);

I have found that the older (usually RED) HLN5173 boards take the HLN9277A Ver 4 chip (which is IDENTICAL to the Radius ver 4). And they usually have NO U806 static RAM, (and sometimes even NO U805 ROVRAM [which has lithium battery that WILL go dead).

And the newer (usually green) HLN5172 ones will take the HLN5569 chip. And they have BOTH U805 and U806, with the U805 being the newer 28C16 chip.

NOTE, this is just what I have seen normally! There ARE variations and specials etc.

I'm working on an XLS spreadsheet list for Maxtrac (et al) EPROMS.
