There is no question here, a Comtelco 3db UHF model BS450S-B 430 to 450mhz.
Be sure to use a high quality feed line (coax) like LMR400 at the minimum. NO Rad Shack junk.

I just installed Comtelco BS450XL6-B 440 - 460 Mhz 6dB gain on a friends Flexar, and he has had nothing but good things to say about the product.
I agree with April Make sure uou have a good feedline!

Check out the Hustler G6-440 antenna.
6 db rated gain. 1kw power handling.

The Diamond F718A sounds pretty nice.. the 11.5 db gain figure would be really nice to help improve coverage.

Commercial antennas can be pricey$$.. beware.

Some good feedline is Davis RF BuryFlex. http://www.davisrf.com/ham1/coax.htm
This is a 9913/9914 equivelant coax. It has a PE jacket, which makes it great for direct burial or exposure to the elements.

LMR cable is expensive$$. BuryFlex isn't as costly, and wil preform just as well.

But no matter what... no RG-58 and no RadioShack coax.
