Have a Spectra A4 15pin M/N D43KXA7JA4AK that has the microphone port blanked (not a plug in blanker - it's permanantly molded into and a part of the faceplate).
Anyone know how this unit was intended to be set up and why?
Thanks

...that makes sense... This would lead to the following questions:
- can this radio be set up to scan (off hub?) without a mic connected at all? The unit would basically be a monitoring unit...
- this unit also has the power on/volume knob (actually the metal shaft itself) sheared off - is this an easy changeout or should I just change the dam* head out?
- if so, what type(s) of heads can I change it out with - this may go directly to the Wanted forums as I would need a cheap head for this thing from someone on the board (the existing head / buttons aren't in great condition anyway)
- I plan to do some drilling on the board for info on head changeouts etc., please forgive my questions as I don't do much with Spectras.
Thanks,

Yes, there's a setting in RSS radio wide to disable the HUB.indigo wrote:- can this radio be set up to scan (off hub?) without a mic connected at all? The unit would basically be a monitoring unit...

If the head is in bad shape anyway, I'd just get a different head, with a normal mic plug on the front. You can go with an A4, A5, or A7 head easily, just set the control head in RSS radio wide to enhanced.
