hmm that must be for different radio/scenario
This radio does not have a display and I need the one that customer would use to add/delete chans in their scan list
I think it involves the green button on side but I forgot/cant figure out

Joe wanted the instructions for the user to use the user-programmable features, not how to do it in RSS. Two different animals.
Your RSS instructions were 100% perfect, but not what he is looking for.

Snow? What's that?!

What you want is the HT1000 User's Manual. From memory:
Put the radio in scan program mode (however programmed to do this);
Select channels one at a time;
The LED indicates status of the channel; I think red is "not in list", solid green is "in list";
Use whichever button has been programmed as "select" (usually functions as nuisance delete) (and most often the green top side button) to toggle status.
I say again: foregoing is from memory.
