Hi there,
I know some ICOM FM HT's (IC-T7H) can be mod to Tx AM. I am just curious to know if any /\/\ot HT's can be mod to do AM ? In particular Sabers in VHF.
Thanks in advanced.
Chris

DO TELL
What Yaesu unit is it that TX's on AM air?
I have the new VX-7R but it doesn't do it. Only FM.

Hi All..
Those ham radios cited above only have RX in AM, even you can transmit in the AIR Band, these radios transmit in FM. They don´t have AM TX circuits...
If you want to TX in AM, buy a Airband radio. I have one ICA22 and I can say you that the performance it´s ten times superior that those Yaesu radios.
When I don´t receive any signal in my VX1R (in AM mode) my ICA22 receives a clear and crisp signal of the tower and air traffic control

Bernardo

AM with FM Modulation
I read that you could use an FM radio to "simulate" AM by tuning the FM radio 5 KHz lower or 5 KHz higher than the AM station. As the deviation of the FM radio passes into the receive passband of the AM radio, it is seen as an "amplitiude" modulated signal.
I've been meaning to try this with an AM radio and service monitor, but never had time to do it.
Has anyone else done this?
