The hip anchors I carry are usually a MT1000 and a MTX8000...
...but depending on my mood sometimes I'll take a GE M-PD and a MTX8000....it really depends on what batteries are charged more then anything

Not on my belt but sitting on the car seat:
VX900U
VX900V
GTX H11W
Saber QX (any 1 of 4)

MT1000, still can't beat em for durability!
Though my cell phone, a Kyocera, comes close. It got run over by the van this past winter, came out with hardly a scratch on it and still works perfectly.

Oh wow, I think we've had a thread like this before, but for me, at least, things have changed since then (the old thread may have been in the lounge)
Every day: v265 phone
Tu and Th: (DPS work) HT1250 UHF (issued HT750...I did better)
Wednesday night: XTS3K Model II (airport work)
Weekends, varied: typically VHF HT1250 and XTS3k.
I used to carry a lot of crap around, not so much anymore, and to think, I actually use radios at work now too.

That being said, I usually have the Astro Spectra W7 in the two trucks, and a Motorola V60i cellphone in my pocket. (What a piece of crap cell phone.)
The few times I need a hand held, I usually use a Kenwood TH-75 that I've had forever (and recently had it returned from being stolen 18 months ago.) I'd like to get a couple of JT-1000s but then I'd have top learn how to program a handheld all over again.
That or an Motorola XTS-3000 when I need access to the shop system.
All the Astro stuff has DVP encryption so I don't have to watch my language.

Emoticons are the wheel chair ramps for the emotionally handicapped.
I usually have a Motorola Advisor Elite for Network Monitoring (Net. Admin job), a VHF Motorola Minitor III for Fire Dept, Motorola E815 Cell for work/personal and a UHF DTMF HT1000 or VHF DTMF Visar. Haven't been issued a VHF HT1000 for the Fire Dept. yet.
In the truck, a VHF 99 Channel Maratrac, a UHF Maxtrac (32 chan), and a Yaesu FT-2500M VHF for Ham.

Maratrac 99 Chan, MT1000, Visar, Minitor 2.
My 'fashion' lineup:
1. Systems Saber, UHF, secure-bus. and play
2. Systems Saber, VHF, secure-bus. and play
3. HT-1000, 'R' series, UHF-work van, almost daily programming change per needs.
4. Nokia 3587i, for text/voice messages only....don't call unless you want to wait.
5. Saber I, VHF, my 'for sale' portable with updated module for 136-150 Mhz. (thanks to GlennD for the modules).
6. Colt .45 auto with extended cap. mag and comp.(loaded with Hydra-Shoks)
7. 27" color TV with Tivo, DirecTV so I don't miss an episode of Star Trek.
8. Deep cycle battery and 1,000 watt inverter.
9. Collapsible solar panels in my backpack.
10. On-duty ambulance to drive me to the hospital when I faint from too much weight being carried.
11. Insurance cards for 23 companies that will even carry my tired butt.
12. Barren wallet(due to the above taking all my cash).

-Glock Model 22 (.40 S&W calibre for those who care)
-Peerless hinged handcuffs
Both of the above in an Uncle Mike's Gunner Runner pack.
-Motorola Nextel i530
-Motorola VHF HT1000 (as the need arises)
The unmarked has:
-GE Delta SX VHF (I know, I know) with the 4 mode x 32 channel configuration. It has been modified so it is FPP (front panel programmable).
-Yaesu FT-8800 for hammy stuff
No trunked yet, but we are switching in a couple of years to the Minnesota P25 system
-Panasonic Toughbook CF-28 lap-top computer with a Sierra Wireless Aircard 550 on the Sprint system. (Or is that the Nextel system now?)
For entertainment, I have one of those Auto Talk convertors connected to the AM/FM broadcast radio so that I can hear the local news. I am not a big Flea-Bay guy, but that is one of the better things that I have purchases threre, and dirt cheap at that.
The next purchase might have to be a Garmin Quest or Quest 2 GPS receiver.

how many ppl on this board actually brought thier moto radios to school?

CONTEMPLATING EF JOHNSON 5100 SERIES VHF APCO25 DES PORTABLE
Instead of XTS3000
IT Is Comparable to XTS3000 and takes the acessories of the XTS3000
Batteries/charger/speaker mics. YEP THINK ABOUT IT.
the DES Key is software lodable, no keyloader required, or i think you can use a KVL3000, but not sure on the KVL3K.

way Back in the highschool days i ran the halls with my HT600 or P100 with speaker mic on occasion under jacket,
how many ppl on this board actually brought thier moto radios to school?
back then, the 600 and 100 were still current production radios, MAN im getting old! i paid 525$ for my P100 new! somebody must have handed me a crack pipe right before purchase to have bought one new.
think about how to ENCOURAGE Motorola learning safely with GRACE.....NOT condemnation.

If I had any at the time, I would've. As it was, I got into plenty of trouble with my Alinco and Bearcat scanners.wazzzzzzzzup wrote:how many ppl on this board actually brought thier moto radios to school?

Nextel i35s: Company provided. Thinking about "upgrading" to an i90.
Moto Astro Saber 1 VHF: Analog-only, but encrypts just as well as an IMBE radio. Wouldn't mind upgrading, though. Covers 2m, some pub. safety scanning.
Moto Astro Saber III UHF: VSELP, surplused from a local refinery when they went to trunking. Covers GMRS, 70cm, some scanning.
Moto JT1000 VHF: Carried in place of the AS1 when I'm out of town and/or need on-the-fly programming capability.
I went to the local vo-tech HS for my four years of becoming marginally educated. Such oddities weren't unknown in the electronics shop.
I don't remember the number now but back then I had a Ma M lunchbox type portable - looked like a PT300. But it was the old tube type from the very late 50s or early 60s. Mine worked, was crystalled up on the local 2m repeater and I even had a touch tone (I can call it that, it was an authentic phone company version stolen right out of a desk phone) pad mounted on the end. And yes, I used it from time to time on the local autopatch.
14 years old and if anyone had kicked my ass for being such a geek carrying that monstrosity around, I'd look back now and admit I'd have deserved it. But back then, it was indeed cool. Besides, how many other folks had a "portable" phone, in 1976?
