MSC 2000 PROGRAMMING QUESTION

MSC 2000 PROGRAMMING QUESTION

I AM TRYING TO PROGRAM MY MSC2000 THRU THE RJ45 AT CONTROL HEAD. WHEN I LOAD THE SOFTWARE , MOTOROLS 2005 VER WINDOWS, I CONNECT TO READ RADIO AND THE CONTOL HEAD TURNS TO PROGRAMMING BUT A COMMUNICATIONS FAILED WINDOW OPENS. I HAVE CHECKED THE CABLE AND AS PER THE DIAGRAM IT IS RIGHT , COM PORT SELECT IS RIGHT . CAN ANYONE TELLS ME WHAT IM DOING WRONG. AND IM USING A 486 COMPUTER THAT IS WITHIN THE RANGE SUGGESTED.

What radios do you own?: HT1550's, X9000's, CDM1550's

where did you get the cable? have you tried it on a different radio? i've seen people wire the rj45 backwards, nobody ever gets pin 1 in the right spot.

Yes i have tried it on 2 radios with the same results . I followed the cable directions and i am sure the connector and cable are write. anu other ideas????? thanks

First of all, if you're using the Windows CPS for the programming, you don't need to use an old 486 boat anchor. That's only for older DOS RSS. You would have to be running Windows 95 on that computer, correct? The software will work much better with Windows 98 & above. Run it on as a new a computer as you wish, assuming it has a serial port.

Secondly, the diagram on batlabs is misleading, and many people (inluding myself) have wired the RJ45 backwards, because they miss the small print stating "tab on top" for the connector. It's a little counter-intuitive.

Worst case, you could build the 25-pin accessory cable if you can't get it working with the mic connector.
