GM300 programming question

Post by turbozeke418 »

I have the software and the cables etc. to program the GM300 mobile radios. When I open the program and hook up the radio and try to read it, nothing happens and it doesn't detect the radio. Can you tell me if I need to open any other programs while trying to read or write to these radios?

No other programs would be needed, besides DOS can only run one program at a time (except for TSRs).

Two things come to mind:

1. Did you configure the program for the serial port you connected the radio to? On the same topic, did you plug the serial cable to your RIB into the proper serial port?

2. Are you running the program in freshly booted MS-DOS? Not a DOS box under Windows, or not even under Windows.

Once you boot into DOS and verify the COM port, if your like me and built your cables, recheck the cable to the schematic. Then check it again. Finally check it once more!
